HEARTSTRINGS
& THE HAYBOYS TO AID
CHILDREN’S MUSIC PROGRAM
Imagine you’re a kid and it’s Monday after school. You’ve
been lugging that heavy instrument case around all day. Others may
be playing outside, but you are at Band Practice. For two hours
every week, kind and dedicated teachers inspire you, and you are
on your way to becoming a Musician!
At two yearly concerts, your family & friends are amazed and
thrilled with the beautiful music brought forth. It’s hard
at first, but by your second year, you are getting the hang of it.
You feel a sense of accomplishment, as playing becomes easier. These
skills carry through your life, and as an adult you enjoy playing
music, and are so glad you stuck with it!

Does this sound like a scenario from the past, what with budget
cuts eliminating music at most schools nowadays? It’s not,
because there is a great program happening now called “Orchestra
in the Schools”. This program is open to kids grades 4-8,
from any area school, and meets every Monday and is hosted by All
Saint’s Day School in Carmel Valley.
Heartstrings
& The HayBoys are two local bands holding a Benefit Concert
Friday May 6th at Hidden Valley,
to help foster this love of music, and support Orchestra in the
Schools. Doors open at 5:30, with dinner & drinks available
courtesy of the Carmel Valley Kiwanis Club. The Alta California
Dance Company will perform a pre concert dance demonstration at
6:15, and at 7:00 Heartstrings will perform celtic/traditional/world
music & The HayBoys will bring their unique blend of country/swing/bluegrass.
Tickets are $15 adults, $5 kids 12 & under, and are on sale
at Do Re Mi Music, Carmel Valley Business Service, & The Running
Iron, or at the door $20. For more information, go to www.heartstringsmonterey.com,
or visit the Orchestra

Come & have a great time!
